The Day of Giving event is the unofficial kick off to the APPA National Conference which took place June 5-10 in Minneapolis, MN. There were three volunteer opportunities from which to choose, including:
-
- Packing meals for the Feed My Starving Children organization to feed malnourished children around the world.
- Helping with building and grounds improvements and spruce up at Tubman, an organization that provides shelter and other services for women, children and families struggling with relationship violence and substance abuse.
- Planting, weeding, mulching and other tasks for the Minneapolis Parks Foundation, which supports projects that beautify the park system and build a sense of community.
Dan was able to lend a hand to the Minneapolis Parks Foundation, taking part in various gardening activities. “The Day of Giving is a great way to reach out and touch the greater community,” notes Hornung. “It feels good to know that with a little extra effort you can make a difference for someone.”
Roydan prides itself on a customer centric focus. Events like the Day of Giving are a prime example of our belief that we all need to go the extra mile to help others. This means that we work hard to make sure the customer’s needs are met, but it also means that our team looks for opportunities such as the Day of Giving in which we can lend a hand and make local communities a better place.
