Get to Know the Roydan Interns

Ian Siebold

Ian Siebold is a senior at the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE). He is majoring in software engineering. Ian chose to study at MSOE because of the smaller class sizes and the post-graduation placement rates. As a Manitowoc local, he also liked the idea of being closer to home, yet still enjoying a bigger city experience.

Programming has been a part of Ian’s wheelhouse since high school. “I’ve always had an interest in video-based applications and how they’re developed. I watched a lot of videos about programming and the problem-solving aspect of it. It was fascinating,” Ian notes. “My junior year in high school, I took a programming class to develop some of my own games and I really enjoyed the creative process behind it. I was convinced that this is what I should pursue as a career,” he adds.

During his internship, which will continue into the school year, Ian assisted the Roydan software developers with Data Exchange solutions as well as programming projects for a variety of customers. He notes that it has been interesting to utilize his schooling in real-world experiences that will benefit an actual end-user.

Ian is an avid disc golf player, taking part in tournaments throughout the warm months. He also enjoys letting off some steam on a long run, and continues to enjoy video games.

Seth Giesen

Roydan was also fortunate to have Seth Giesen helping out this summer in our accounting department. Seth worked for Roydan in the summer of 2018 as well, and we were thrilled to have him return this year. This fall, Seth will be a sophomore Finance major at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He chose UW-Madison not only for the great education, but also for the atmosphere that the Madison, Wisconsin area offers.

Seth took on a wide variety of tasks during his internship, including bank reconciliations, accounts payable, audits, financial modeling, and payroll. “It has been such a great experience interning at Roydan,” Seth notes. “I like getting real-world experience that will help me later in my career. I also enjoyed the team aspect of the Roydan culture. Even though I’m in a very specific area, I feel like I’m contributing to the big picture,” he adds.

When he’s not working or hitting the books, Seth enjoys a variety of different sports, including football, baseball, tennis, and basketball. He also looks forward to spending time with family and friends.

The Roydan team is very thankful for the contributions of these two young men, and we know they will be very successful wherever their future career paths take them!
